I like the look of the black block. More than the normal wood you see most of the time.

I would recommend the Miracle Blade. They sell it at CVS or Amazon among other places and they are dirt cheap. Two of my siblings have had them for years and they outperform all but the super premium knife sets. They are also much safer than the super premium knife sets as they tend to cut steak and other food incredibly well, but human bone - not so well.

pretty cheap price for a 13 knife set- don't they usually range in the 100s?

I would recommend the Henckels Int'l from Target, which is the same price range. Those knives are good.

#5 is right. Cutco rules...just saw it on "how it's made" TV show. Sharpest knife in the world, as verified by outside labs. Now I can hack my fingers off in one swift cut, rather than sawing back and forth...

#2: I like to end sentences. To start new ones where the old ones should have continued on.

For the price, I think you could afford to replace them in 4-5 years. So even if they don't last, it was at a good bargain price anyway.

extremely affordable if you need a block knife set and are on a budget.

This does seem like a good price on entry-level knives. Since a steel is included, I'd assume that they're real knives, not saws.

High entertainment! I went out to the Miracle Blade (suggested by #7) website, and they are nice enough to have a customer reviews page. Among the reviews was this (exerpted from a full "review"):
"I was so excited that I bought them online and went to
UPS to pick them up! When I got them, I spent all night
chopping stuff. I cut bananas in mid air, I cut leather
steel-toed boots, I even used them to cut the bottom off
of my Christmas Tree..."

This person must be a real riot to live with!

(NOTE: This is a review of the Miracle Blade knife set, NOT
the one referenced in this deal!)
