This is a 2.5" notebook type drive, whereas the $100 500Gb ones are 3.5" drives that weigh much more. The larger drives require a power supply cable as well, this does not.

Good price, if I'd not just gotten the Seagate 160Gb for $100. 5 year warranty, I'm wondering if the 2 extra years are worth the 20 bucks.

Yup, it's a 2.5" notebook drive alright. Expensive and slow as crap. No thanks. I'd much rather melt the polar ice caps with a REAL drive.

    These drives are great.

no power is needed. Format it to fat32 and you can use them for your PS3 or Xbox 360 for music , video , pictures.... way cheaper and faster than a thumb drive.

Anybody knows if the drive inside is PATA or SATA? Standalone SATA 160GB drives go for over $100, this would be worth getting just to extract PRECIOUS BOUNTY

Good idea to use as an Xbox drive. I think this size will work well for that too.

these drives are painfully slow. I prefer the passport which is sleek and black.

Ya'll are missing the point. This thing is designed by Pininfarina. It's the FERRARI of external hard drives.
