I see you get 5% cash back after spending $6,500.01 or more. Anyone know if you get 1% on the first 6.5k and 5% on the rest or 5% on everything considered an "everyday purchase" if you spend enough?

I decided to call them and I was told that you get a rebate credited to your account every month and that rebate is based on what you've spend so far that year, so until you pass $6,500.01 you are not going to get 5%.

I am confused as to which cards work out to be a better deal. The points cards are confusing and airline miles cards really limit your options for redemption. My wife loves using this card and after the 1st month of the year we are usually to the 5% mark. Please guide me to a better bang for your buck as the only card you use card.

I've used this card for years as my primary card. 1.5% is earned on most purchases after the 6500 mark. It's nice getting a free $500-600 credit every year. I don't travel enough to utilize the free mileage cards, not to mention the hassle of coordinating eligible times to use the credit.

I agree that this card is difficult to beat...once you break that $6.5K barrier.

The AMEX Business OPEN card gives 5% on gas...but not groceries...but also gives straight 5%/1% regardless of spending levels.

The CITI Dividend Platinum Select gives same as AMEX OPEN, but limits cash back to $300 per year.

can you put your mortgage on it?

That would be sweet to put a mortgage on it, but I don't think that's gonna work. However, you can throw car payments on your card to get up the 6500 mark quicker.
