Yeah there is a big overhead for GPS that's why they can give big discount. Stuff like GPS and Cameras/Camcorders have huge overhead. Things like TVs not so much, most TVs discount are on old models.

GPS is becoming the norm. there probably is an influx of GPS and the cheaper ones are probably driving the prices down. to kill the competition, the bigger companies are bringing down their prices. how good is this GPS model?

I've done the research Garmin is better than Magellan (also - fo r being French Wink). TomTom is also better. So if this Garmin has the features you want it's a solid purchase.

#1, does it really take that much effort to spell out the entire word "are" instead of making yourself look like tool?

Ordered one for my sister for Christmas.

Pretty good price on a good (not great) GPS

#6 grammar policeman: you say, "instead of making yourself look like tool"

For someone so interested in judging the typing laziness of other submitters - your critique would have had a little more "punch" if you included the letter 'a' between 'like' and 'tool.'

Hmmm.... tried ordering this since BF and the price has not budged from $219.99. I wonder if the tracking cookies are playing gremlins with the pricing here.

Too many of these being sold will overwhelm the satellites and they could possibly shut down, or worse yet, fall out of orbit.

Is there a way to load the European maps on it?

Is it possible to load google map?

#13, they will read your brainwaves unless you have on your foil hat...and fall on YOU for saying that!

The GPS units read satellite signals, don't transmit to them. Satellites don't know how many are in use.

#2, overhead in business refers to costs outside of direct manufacturing. So overhead would not allow the producers to cut prices. On the otherhand, large margins would.

#12, I know the airlines have done that (and probably still do), but I never thought about retailers doing that. You should try opening up the page with a different browser or killing the cookies. I know finding the right cookie can be hard unless you delete them all, which is why if you have Firefox and IE you can use the one you don't use normally to reopen that page. Do us a favor and let us know if you find out they're pulling one of these tricks.
