I have heard lots of great things from people that own these on this BB. I need to see one in action before I can pay that much. Right now I have a wet/dry vac that I got at homedepot 2 black fridays ago for $25. You can't beat a wet/dry vac for sheer vacuum power.

The previous generation Roomba worked well enough. One of the common complaints was with the type of throw rugs shown in the picture above (with the fancy fringe tassels). The tassel ends would get sucked up into the roller and jam up the mechanism. I guess the new ones won't do that, but it remains to be seen.

I ordered one from Woot for $110 shipped. Haven't got it yet to comment on how it works but I liked the "cheap" price I paid.

Roombas work well. The problem is with tasseled rugs and cords left about, Roomba will eat them. If the new one doesn't, I may pony up for a new one, cheaper than a maid

From iRobot's website:
"Improved anti-tangle technology keeps Roomba from getting stuck on cords, rug fringe and tassels."

I have a Roomba and the thing is really cool. Set it and leave the house. When you come back home, the place is vaccumed and it automatically goes to its base for charging! But you have to make sure the floor is cleared before letting it loose. But you have to do that with a regular vaccum cleaner anyway! Definitely a great device.

I have a 560 (one of the new ones) and I can tell you that it doesn't eat cords or rug tassles anymore. It also runs for about 1 1/2 hours on a cleaning cycle and moves over uneven surfaces without getting high-centered.
This is my 3rd. Had two of the earlier models and I can tell you the new ones are awsome.

Sounds like it could be worth it. I have an army of Roombas at home (4 of them). One's been 'modified' using their hack kit. The rest are just doing basic cleaning duty in different rooms (at different times). Love 'em, but keeping the rooms Roomba-friendly can be a bit of annoyance. There are only SO many placed you can put a bunch of power cords and cables.

I just picked up two of these for stocking stuffers....
I checked a lot of reviews. There seems to be a problem with some of the brushes self destructing. Roomba will replace them but they are on serious back order. Speculation is they have a redesign in the works that will solve the problem.
My thinking is iRobots will make good on the brushes so I went for it.

Wow Petejc 2?!? Could you pick one up for me as well? I really want one of these. Have a lot of carpet at my condo and vacuuming takes up a lot of time. Costco has the model 560 for $289 and it comes with a lot of extras.
