Typical "Walmart" quality. I say spend a little extra (and it is a little, this set is pricey) and get a better one from somewhere else.

Can't touch a complete counter-height set for this price. Besides, Walmart takes it back, smiling, if it doesn't meet your standards.
BTW, if you need something bigger than this, Sam's has a couple of terrific counter-height sets, has a hidden leaf and 8 chairs, very sturdy, solid wood, for $779. One is dining-room size, the other fits a breafast area (without the leaf).
