The 2009 Entertainment Book is now available, with 50% off. The price ranges from $15 to $18 after discount (including shipping), and you'll save many times more than that with all of the offers in the book (and a full year in which to use them).

The description is a little off..
It's $20 for my local book. Plus $3-15 for shipping.
Also the full year to use is actually under 8 months...
"Most Entertainment Book discounts are valid until November 1st of the year specified on the edition"

any advice from people who have purchased this in previous years? is it full of mcdonald's/burger king coupons, or places that are actually worth visiting? i live in the LA area.

There are good coupons in here. I purchase two every year, and they more than pay for themselves.

    Ditto, #3....

Whole sections of nice restaurants that are $15-25 per plate, and with a bogo coupon, you pay for the book in 1-2 uses. Also like the idea that if the place has lousy food/service I'm only out 1/2 of what it was usually cost.

Not to mention useful drycleaning/rental car/hotel coupons and several $5 off $50 for the local grocery store.

#2 - Just click on your state http://www.entertainment.com/discount/local_editions.shtml and then in the area towards the top that says "Packed with over $xxxx, xxx in savings:" it has hyperlinks that show restuarants that are included in your booklet.

Still friggin' $22.50 for the book here in San Diego... which is such BS since we get the same crappy choices the rest of the country gets.... That said, I've got 2 book already and will order another 2 after the next price fall.

There are a number of places we go that we like saving $5-$9 each visit.... And with the 3 $12/visit in each, we get ahead. Even when I paid over $25/per book, it is easy to recoup the cost.

This book is great! I've used many coupons at local restaurants.

Never give your credit card to this company because they will renew your subscription at full price next year. Try to fight that you didn't subscribe for auto renewal.

This year's Washington DC book was disappointing. Most of the "upscale" restaurants were mediocre and unknown Thai/Indian/Vietnamese restaurants and some of them have already gone out of business. The fast food coupons were decent but nothing spectacular and the lack of ski resort coupons and greens fees discounts makes it much worse than previous years editions. If in DC area - skip it.

This is a great book, but they went skimpy for 2009. Both Central MA and Boston area books are only 2/3 of the thickness of last year. There are a number of places that skipped coupons this year.

These are a freaking rip off. Tried to use a coupon at a Motel once. I don't recall the exact prices and discount but it went something like this. Got a room for $55. Showed coupon for 50% off room. The guy said it is 50% off regular season room rate of $120. So if I used the coupon, I would have had to pay $60 or $5 more per night.

#14, I saw that motel in a movie once...stay FAR away. Luke Wilson got stabbed and they almost carved up my GF Kate Beckinsale as well.
