Buy.com has this Memorex DVD+R 8X Double Layer Media 8.5GB (1 x 50 Pack) Spindle for $35 + $0 shipping = $35 shipped. Even if you factor in the double capacity, the price/storage is still more than double that of single layer media. [Compare]

You are rolling the dice when you buy Memorex, especially DL. I wouldn't take a chance on these.

Not good for 360 games. I bought these a few weeks ago and tried 6 times to burn a 360 game and not one worked. I threw in a Verbatim and presto. Verbs are good for 360 games. I then sent these back to buy.com.

These used to be excellent and then Memorex switched suppliers. They're now completely worthless. I had bought two spindles a couple of years ago and they were burning fast with no errors (only one bad one out of 100). Starting to feel pretty confident about these, I bought two more spindles. Out of these 100 platters, exactly ZERO burned successfully. Most burn but fail verification; some fail halfway through the burn; and some are not even recognized by the burner. And yes, I tried burning at 1x, and it didn't help one bit. The problem is really that there is no way you can tell which manufacturer you get, so you may luck out but then again you're probably more likely to end up with $35 and many hours wasted. They wouldn't be worth getting even if they gave them away, in my opinion (unless you could get the original ones; those were fantastic)

It has everything to do with your burners and software. These discs have burned fine for me, both movies and data. No coasters. Samsung and Toast. My Disc Utility won't burn them. Toast has no problem. So, instead of letting good deals like this pass by, it would behoove you all to try a combination that actually works.

    I recommend these discs 100%.

#7, keep buying them and get ready for a surprise. I burned two full spindles (with Toast on a Mac Pro) with no problems. The next two spindles had 100% failure rate on the same equipment. Had I judged by the first two spindles I used I would have recommended them wholeheartedly, but I think it's just not worth the time wasted if you get a bad batch.

I've been using these for 3 years now and never had a bad burn. I recommend a good solid burner and imgburn at 2x. I think its funny when people say theyve had a whole case of coasters, blaming the disk when it's another issue obviously. It could be the file you're burning, software, etc.

    I'm with #7.

Do your homework. Learn how to work son.

#9 were you born stupid or do you take pills? How is the file you're burning going to make your burn fail, you twit. The only thing that changed between the good spindle and the bad one was the manufacturer code reported by the disc. What is so burp hard to understand?

Yeah I dont understand.when I first got my sammy 203 they wouldn't even recognize these but they would burn TDK dl which are the same code.I upgraded to the lastest firmware and now it will burn these at 4x. My LG wont burn these,TDK and yes I have even had problems w\ verbatim...burner?software?file? I don't know.I don't see how discs can be so different.....

Same experience here -- the first few batches worked well, and then suddenly nothing but coasters. No bad experiences Verbatim regardless of whether they were made in Malaysia or India, but nothing but trouble lately with Memorex or Matrix.

I just bot 2 spindles of these last month. I bot one from newegg and one from buy.com I've opened both of the spindles and taking turn burning discs from the two spindles. Using Nero Express, ImgBurn, etc. along with a old Sony burner on an old AMD mb. I use these for large mkv files...and its been working fine. Takes me a while to grab a mkv...so i check the burn of large files before i delete it off the harddisk by skimming the movie from beginning to end. I've not had any issues after 4 discs from each spindle.

The pack that I got from Amazon over the summer has Ritek as the manufacture. Not sure which one people think is crappy but these DVDs have been perfect for playback. They actually play better than the Verbatims in my Sony DVD player.

I have been using these with Imgburn on an external LG GSA E60L. I have been burning AV3CHDs and playing them on a Sony 550 Bluray player. I have not had any failures. Once I buy this spindle I will have been through 4 spindles, purchased from multiple resellers over the past 6 months. It has everything to do with the burner and software used. I do know of others that have had bad experiences with older burners.

They are crap. Memorex buys whatever is available on the market and sticks their name on it. Verbatim is the best.
