NewEgg.com has the RiDATA 4.7GB 8X DVD-R Inkjet Printable 50 Packs Spindle Disc for $11 with free shipping. Storage acceleration tests guarantee safe storage for more than 30 years (basically some guy burned it, went out for lunch, and came back and they were still good).

I believe Ridata is considered 2nd class, or economy media. I would stay away from them, and stick with the Taiyo Yuden, or Verbatim disks. As much as I hate to say it, Sonys are good too.

ridata is the best bang for your buck. I wouldn't consider them 2nd class, I wouldn't pay extra just because it says sony.

#3, Memorex, which most people, including myself consider to be good media is actually mostly ridata discs. There's really only a few manufacturers of discs and they are than branded to the multiple brands you see.

#5, Memorex are NOT considered good disks by most people. They are considered economy disks that should be avoided for all important data. Please do your research on it. Here is a good place that gives media grades:

Agree with #7. Memorex is terrible. How could anyone think otherwise? I tried their DL brand awhile back and couldn't get any to play without skipping. Tried different burners (Pioneer, NEC,)and upgraded firmware. POS all the way.

#7, that's exactly where my info is from. As you can see, Verbatim and Sony also use CMC, ricoh and ritek discs which are classified as second class just as Memorex does, so you can't really separate the brands as easily as you think.
All I'm saying is my experience with Memorex, TDK, Verbatim and Ridata discs that were all Ritek manufactured as these are has been excellent.

#11, I said Ridata is considered second class. That's what your own research has found out. I'm not sure where the confusion is. However, I would suggest you go back to the Memorex disks that "successfully" burned for you as early as six months ago, and check them for errors. Chances are a lot of the disks have degraded enough to the point where you have errors on them today. Even though you have an apparent successfull burn, many times the disk will still be bad. I know people who burn 10's of thousands of disks for their business, and they say stay away from Memorex.

#8 unfortunately optical media is mostly luck of the draw with most of the major brands these days since they use discs from various manufacturers. I always identify the maker of the discs that I buy using a cool free program called DVD Identifier which tells you the real manufacturer of the disc. Memorex uses some first class discs and some second so one pack can definitely be better than another. As I stated before I've had good luck with all the Ritek manufactured discs I've used from various brands.

#13 I've made backups of all my DVDs and many of them on Ritek made Memorex discs over the past few years and I have yet to have one not play whether I burned it 3 days ago or 3 years ago. I will say I have returned spindles when I got Prodisc or CMC discs because I didn't want to risk it, but again, I've never had any issues with Ritek made discs.

RiData disc's rock ... They are in the top 5 for compatibiltiy in various devices if not the best. I have, CDs, DVDs, Games that still play 5 or 6 years later.

I rank them ahead of all including verbatim for my particular devices.
