Since when did Memorex make a good DVD... or CD... or cassette tape for that matter? Memorex has been mostly a marketing company. They hire Crappy Media Company (CMC) to make most of their disks.

I've had enough experience with Memorex media to never buy them any more. Sure, you might well get a good batch and they *might* even have started requiring higher quality from their disk makers, but why chance it unless you're giving the disks away and don't care about quality?
You won't find a better DL than this. If you want to do it right the first time and save time and money, this is the one... provided they're still made by their parent company, Mitsubishi.
They farmed out the work some years back and it cost them because no one but Taiyo Yuden made a better disk. Now, they're back to making their own again.
What is with the hate with memorex? I use them almost exclusively. I've used an estimated 600 disks over the years, over multiple product lines with not one bad disk.
It seems (meaning I can't prove it to you but experience supports it) that when different companies farm out their disks to CMC, some of them seem to require higher quality than CMC puts into their self branded disks. Because their self branded disks are so crappy, when they make disks for, say hp or Memorex, or Philips, or Staples, people assume they're the same level of quality, which is not an unreasonable assumption.
In my experience, using thousands of disks, it has seemed that companies like Office Depot and Philips do require better quality control than CMC incorporates for their self branded disks. I used Office Depot as an example, though I don't know that OD ever used CMC. They used Ritek and the same principle holds true. Ritek disks were not as good in my experience as OD disks, but the OD disks were all made by Ritek and carried a complete satisfaction guarantee from OD. Ritek didn't give that guarantee for their self branded disks. OD quit marketing "Office Depot" disks unfortunately -- I loved them -- great disks that went on sale at the best prices. I bought hundreds of OD DVDs at .125 per disk and don't think I ever had one defective. Still have a few left.
I wouldn't buy CMC branded but would buy Philips, knowing that they're made by CMC.
$1 each good deal they are usely about 1.50-2 each unless u buy bulk around 1.25 each
360backup isnt worth using on these premium blanks. go with memorex, its just as good and cheaper.

If the particular memorex discs were a problem wouldn't you expect a lower review rating? It's not like only a handful of people bought them.
... as for cassette tapes, I liked TDK more but didn't have a problem with memorex tapes either.

Well, I've used far less but had more problems.
