REI has some really high quality stuff, but it is usually very expensive. Even with 20%, still to rich for my blood.

#2, REI carries mid-lvl gear. Agree with #4, it's obvious he hasn't shopped at ANY small specialty outdoor store. Go to a store that carries a lot of Cloudveil, Arc'teryx or Patagonia gear and you're likely to shit your pants at the high prices.
