I've heard great things about this. I have a mini tripod and its been great for holding my SLR, I may need to upgrade to this though

I've owned the compact digital camera version for months... it's very useful!

These things are incredible. They're great for compact digital cameras. I've yet to find myself in a situation where I couldn't get it to do what I wanted.

Make sure you don't have a Canon Elph -- the mount is way to the side and my heavy old S200 topples this tripod. Mine is the itty bitty one, though.

the flexibility is nice. Is there a level on this as well?

These are great. The yellow part is vulcanized rubber so it is easy for it to get a good grip if you wrap it around a tree branch or something.
#8 there is no level on it. You're going to have to look through your viewfinder or at your display to see what you have in your frame anyway, though. You really ought to be able to tell if it's level from there, I think.
