Planet Earth is actually pretty awesome. Some ppl say its better than blue planet. Dunno about that but it is good and on blu-ray i bet it looks pretty freakin sweet.

the quality is superb on Blu-Ray, I haven't seen blue planet, but the picture quality looks incredible.

blue plant was shoot on SD. No blue ray/(soon to be dead) HD dvd. I have the Attenborough narrated edition. Something about British accents and animal documentary that works. Can't really imagine Ripley talking about animals killing each other.

#7, are you saying that they went out and specifically used low-quality SD cameras instead of shooting this on Film? Can you please verify your sources on this? A lot of people are hoping for a nice Film->HD transfer of this series.

The blu-ray version I bought couple of weeks back has Attenborough's commentary and it sounds good. Well worth for $60 or so.

Blue planet, however they show it, didn't allow then to create hi-def blueray/hddvd discs.
This series, however, is just stunning. Seriously. I downloaded the 720p HD video files. While my computer can juuust eek by playing these 2.2gb files, it ruined my desire to buy a DVD version. The first DVD I buy when I buy a HDTV will be the Planet Earth set.
The BBC version, of course. :-p
