I don't use linux, but it works very well with Vista Premium on my HP laptop. The Hauppauge software is a bit dated, but media center works with it as well.

Great product, I have two of these and they work perfectly with Vista Premium. I could not get it to work with XP Media Center. Good price, highly recommended.

I got this previously on rebate. Good hardware. *BUT* no stereo audio channels for analog cable TV. Ok if you're buying it only for digital ATSC.

Works well in ubuntu feisty. I am afraid to upgrade to Ubuntu gutsy.

I've heard this is the exact same hardware as the Elgato EyeTV Hybrid. Couldn't you just use this if you could get your hands on some eyetv software for your mac and save half as much?

not very good reviews of this version on newegg (model #1139, black). however, the HVR-950 model #1145 in white that works on both macs and pcs has great reviews from everyone. here's the link:

does anybody know what the differences are between the two other than MAC support? apparently it performs much better than the #1139 model and doesn't seem to have the driver issues everyone is complaining about with the #1139.

People that use Macs never acknowledge any problem with their computers, so that explains that part. The PC users might prefer the white color. So the difference might be strictly psychological.
