You can use the following calculator to get an idea of your potential returns:

If you spend a lot of money on your CC then this card quickly becomes worthwhile to have/use. Plus it comes with the great customer service we have all come to love and expect from AMEX. I love it.

Just what is a "higher incentive" than cash?

Ben posts the same description of this card every time and each time I wonder...what are these "higher incentive" cards? I cannot find any better.

The "up to 5%" probably starts once you have spent several thousand dollars in one anniversary year. And then guess what? You start over again the following year.

I agree #3 - this card is as good as any other high incentive card.. unless I guess if you sign up for the annual fee charging "super plantinum" cards or whatever.. which probably will return the annual fee as a super incentive of the year..

So where's the footnote that the "*" in the description indicates?

"4.99% fixed APR for the life of the balance*, Flexibility to pay over time"

#4, after you spend $6500 in a year, rates bump from 0.5% and 1% to 1.5% and 5% on all purchases and gas/market/drugstore, respectively. no limit to cash back. if you have no problem spending $6500 in a year, hard to beat imo. and i agree with #1, customer service is great.

this card is probably better than any other cards out there.

    Esp citibank's crap cards..

I really like this card, and I use it for everything. I'll get more than $600 back from AmEx this year. For me, cold, hard cash is better than miles or points. Can't find a card that does any better than this one, plus I like the great customer service and the powerful AmEx website. The card looks slick, too.

The good thing about this card is once a year they give you a credit = your cash back. No worry about watching to hit a minimum then logging on a website to request a check, then taking the check to the bank and depositing it.

Automatic...cash back as a credit in your account once a year. Easy.

For most people the Citibank Diamond Rewards Visa/MC card is a better deal. 5% on gas/grocery/drug store without having to wait until you reach $6,500. Plus due to the higher AMEX transaction fees for merchants, most grocery stores don't even accept AMEX.

I don't understand why can't every cashback credit card do that?

#12, cuz then they work like rebates, they expire after a while.

I like the subtle Discover Card bashing.
