Verizon reception is good and I'd rather have a phone that I can talk on than a fancy phone that doesn't place calls.

Verizon SUCKS! I get unlimited local, long distance, texting, picture texting, internet, email program, MapQuest, and chat program for $50.00 per month from mertoPCS.

I agree VW sucks. One tip. You don't need to sign up for a new plan unless you want a free-be phone. My plan expired 2-1/2 years ago. All the new ones were for more mintes and more money. I don't use the minutes I have now. I refused to sign up and just keep coasting on the old plan.
They know that if they try to change the plan, I'm gone.
Oh, I buy my phones on ebay. I have like 6 or 7 now. Cheapest was for $0.99 (+$6.00 shipping).
