when 4GBs were going for $12... 2GB for $15 seems quite pricey

The Sandisk U3 software that comes on these drives is incompatible with a number of common programs and will cause your machine to lockup/reboot in an endless cycle if there are incompatibilities. I have the 4GB version and can't use it on 2 of my machines for this reason. Read reviews on Amazon to find numerous others with this same issue.

Indeed, or install PortableApps in its place, which doesn't use any funky CD-emulating driver or dual drive letter garbage.

However, if you want U3 functionality, you can just use Portable Apps instead. Many people prefer it. It's free and open source, and available here: http://portableapps.com/
