If you are going to use software, this is a better option than TurboTax or TaxAct, IMO simply because the federal filing is free. Note that STATE filing is NOT free--it's something like $10, but 1) that's still cheaper than the other options and 2) you can just print out your 1040 and then use all that data to fill out your state tax forms quickly and easily. This way you don't pay anything, but you can count on your state return coming months after you get your federal return.

I did my state and federal taxes in about an hour last Wednesday. I e-filed with them and got my state refund back on that friday and my Federal refund on Tuesday. My first time doing taxes on my own online, very easy for anyone and a much cheaper way of filing than with TurboTax or Taxcut. They even make 1040 forms for you in nice pdf files right after you are done processing!

How about www.taxslayer.com? I'm going to do it there. It will cost $10, the same price as this one. Any suggestion?

I used this last year and it worked out great. Got my federal within 3 weeks and state shortly after.

I have used the TaxAct (through downloaded software) for the past several years without any problem.

tax act online works fine. used it for several years running usually costs like $10 to e-file.
