The higher price tag on this one appears to be because of the Europe maps built in. Otherwise, many more sub $200 ones out there.

you can get the same function out of a sub $200 GPS, granted you may not get all of the bells and whistles. if it gets you there for less, why not?

The problem is to get a sub $200 GPS with Europe maps, you have to buy the Europe maps for almost $200 in addition to the price.

So if you are only US traveler, this is not a good one for you. But if you travel a lot in Europe and drive, this could be a good unit for you.

I tried connecting 2 TomTom's together in SLI config to get it to calculate my routes even faster, but it didn't help. I called it the TomTom TomTom.

Are Tom Toms better than garmin?

I think the coupon date is 2008 instead of 2000, otherwise it's expired 8 years ago @@

    A slight typo... doh!

This has speech recognition so you don't have to push the buttons while trying to drive.

The T of 290T means it has a year of traffic info while you are driving.

You can g00gle this for about $330 without the year of traffic.

I'm a new TomTom GPS user and after researching the brands I liked TomTom's community map update feature so you don't have to wait for official map corrections (POI, one-way streets, etc...). I have the 720 and was able to enable speech recognition (Google it and/or comb TomTom forums - you'll find instructions - fairly easy). However, I think the 920T has real-time gas price updates or some other feature that was only recently implemented. You'll have to decide whether that feature is worth the difference in price.

I also just saw that the 730 & 930's have just been announced for late April release (touts advanced lane-changing indicators like Navigon GPS technology). Looks good!

does anyone know if there is a GPS (or online mapquest like software) thats allows you to route the most efficient route bewteen 10-12 locations?

The order doesnt matter, I just need something I can plug all 10 locations into, and get the best route to take, with my starting oint being my house!

    Thanks!

The 2000 is not the coupon date, #8, it's the number of uses that coupon gets before it's no longer valid.

One of the reviews on the upcoming 730 and 930 said the only difference is that the 930 has additional maps of Europe. Now do we need to pay extra for that?

Get 720... virtually same features w/ exception of "gas prices" options (which is free for the first year if you call TT CS). You can also d/l maps via torrent...

    See my "review" on 720...
