If you can make an exception for the crap boot up times... for $40 you can most likely swing an HD-A3 or A30 player if you shop carefully. Then you'd have the benefit of great HD upconversion along with leeching the fantastic cheap HD deals going around right now for true HD.

you can connect HD on USB as well. it has to be single partition, FAT32 and must run on external power
flash drives work without power but even small external HDs require power
i think players with this support is pretty rare. if you want to play divx using USB this is the player

If you want a divx playing player... this is the rig to buy. I have an HD/Blu HTPC setup for my divx/xvid/anything playback so I don't even worry about that anymore lol.
