Does it play movies from a flash drive?

yes

Hmmm, how does it rank when compared to the LG players?

Doesn't seem like much of a 'deal' since it's been $40 every week since early February.

#4: well, it is a really low price on an upconverting DVD player with HDMI output.

If you can make an exception for the crap boot up times... for $40 you can most likely swing an HD-A3 or A30 player if you shop carefully. Then you'd have the benefit of great HD upconversion along with leeching the fantastic cheap HD deals going around right now for true HD.

#6, can the HD-A3 or A30 play DivX or XviD?

you can connect HD on USB as well. it has to be single partition, FAT32 and must run on external power
flash drives work without power but even small external HDs require power

i think players with this support is pretty rare. if you want to play divx using USB this is the player

#8, the drive does not have to be a single partition - it just has to be the primary partition. I have my 500GB drive partitioned with one as FAT32 for this player and the other NTFS for file storage.

#7 As far as I know no they do not... I was referring specifically to dvd upconversion.

If you want a divx playing player... this is the rig to buy. I have an HD/Blu HTPC setup for my divx/xvid/anything playback so I don't even worry about that anymore lol.
