I bought this camera last month on Sonyrewards.com. It was the deal of the week for $169. I think it came to $193 with tax and shipping. So far I am pleased with it. I don't think you will find a better camera with 10X optical zoom for around $200. Only downside is memorystick media costs more than SD media.

I doubt that the "Sony" brand will ever die. It may get bought and repackaged but the name recognition is worth too much even-though their business stratagy hasn't been that good lately.

Sony has always been good quality at a substantial price though. They have been going after anyone who is anyone for doing anything with anything with their products that might be piracy. IE sue a family for their grandson downloading a few movies that they already own for 250,000 dollars. not a good marketing plow on their end. I know piracy is bad blah blah but movies they already owned dl by their grandson and sony suing for that much. I will stay away from them just based on that alone.
