I see so many refurbished iCrap on here that I think Apple only makes faulty products. Even Phillips doesn't have that many refurbed TVs to sell.

If you don't want the "Dubious improvements" of which Ben speaks, they sometimes have the 80GB Gen5.5 for $189 with free shipping. That's cheaper than eBay.

BTW, "Refurbished" does not always mean "Faulty". Sometimes people return items that they do not want. Apple refurbs are indistinguishable from new product, and come with a one-year factory warranty that you can extend if you wish.

BubbRubb, that's not a valid comparison. TVs can be repaired quickly and easily. iPods are a little trickier, and it is often quicker to send out a new or refurbed unit to the customer.

Enough of that. Anyone here found iPods to be unreliable?

Picked up one of these for my nephew for his birthday. It arrived in brand new condition. iTunes is a pain but this program:

http://handbrake.fr/?article=download

worked extremely well for converting the VIDEO_TS files to an MPEG-4 file fomat.

High Rez conversion is painfully slow, Low Rez is just slow but it was pretty cool once it was on the iPod. I did notice that the Low Rez iPod video files take up a lot more room than the same files for the Zune. Check out the handbrake program though. It is a nice open source piece of software.

I've had my 30GB for close to 2 years now. I bought it brand new and it's been working great. I use it all the time in my car and during long flights. I'm thinking on upgrading to 160GB since it's running low on storage space. I wonder if I should just get this (80GB) instead?
