m0f0 uses this to put in bogus numbers to get a large tax return. In turn, buys crappy Apple hardware to go along with that tent.

Used it 2 years straight... pretty good. You're paying accountants to do the same thing - entering your w2 and 1099 info onto an electronic app anyway.

#3, I hope people aren't really paying tax people to do only that. I do my own taxes, but I can see using a tax "expert" to help find more tax deductions and also help with your taxes if you have more than just a W2 and a 1099 form.

This year, I have a dozen or so tax papers due to my wife an I both changing jobs this year, refinancing the mortgage, taxes for two new cars, property taxes, and other miscellaneous items. I am using TaxAct to do my taxes, but I can't help but think I may be missing out on a deduction or two... I would hope that a tax "expert" that you pay for would know what deductions we may be neglecting to take and he/she would know if we were actually filling out all the other crap correctly.

I've used this 2 years now, too. I like it.

used TaxAct for years and found it to be very valuable. It's definitely increased my tax refund each year. There are all sorts of obscure tax laws that the program detects, most of which would require a well-seasoned tax preparer who keeps up with the rule changes each year.

if not careful, can also be an invitation to a nice little audit too!
