Blockbuster advertises that they have this great selection of movies. But, if they don't have many copies of a particular movie, and they don't happen to have them at a distribution center close to you, they won't ship you the movie. Talk about false advertisement. Anyone have this experience with Netflix?

I have used both - I currently use BB because they have grandfathered me in to the $19.99 plan that allows for unlimited in-store swaps. That makes it worth it for me. Netflix has a WAY wider selection and a MUCH stronger inventory, though. I have some more obscure documentaries and things in my BB queue that have always came us as "very long wait." That never happened with Netflix - I always received things I was able to put in my queue with Netflix.

#7, I've never had a problem with that with Netflix. I think what happens with Netflix is they ship it to you from another distribution center, but it will obviously take longer to get to you.

#8 They would not allow me to get grandfathered and stay with the 19.95 with unlimited swaps. How did you get that accomplished?? I have been with them for years. I hate them. They lie, cheat and steal.

Netflix and BB both suck, but at least with BB you can get unlimited free months of service. Netflix is a little better at tracking their free trials. If you only want to watch the newest movies, stick with the RedBox.

I love BB, you go into a store, look in the "New Releases" section and find movies from 2005.

Brilliant.

I use BlockBuster, but only b/c I get a Free Game Rental every month. I only pay $4/month(for 2 movies per month) and I get a free game. I'd keep that deal even if I did go with Netflix.

#10 - I'm not a high-volume renter, so they were kind to me as far as the grandfathering goes.

#8's right. If you can get in on the old plans (which I *was* on until our account was cancelled without notice (even after the fact) - and which they wouldn't let me back into), you'd get unlimited in-store exchanges, and also a coupon for a free movie/game each month.

Failing that, I'd say you're better off with Netflix - generally faster shipping turnaround time, larger selection, and also don't forget most plans have unlimited "watch it now on your PC" hours.

BB didn't give me any options on grandfathering. They just changed the rules and charged me more. Since summer is here and I already have a huge stack of ripped movies I haven't watched I'm going to cancel. Probably try Netflix in the fall.

i've had both and netflix is far better than BB with netflix once you send a movie back you receive another on two days with BB it would take almost a week and thats when i would drop them off in store, which means there supposed to leave your queue right away.

I have had good luck with BB. I am grandfathered in at 19.99 mo with unlimited in store exchanges. I used to have 3 at at time unlimited in the store but the price went up too much.
