Is there really any performance difference between the brands of 8800GT 512s besides reliability? DVI vs VGA, etc not withstanding.

Which are the best brands? Im getting confused by al the damn cards!

Great card. Built a few systems using this. One of the fastest 8800GTs out there. Zalman fan helps keep it COOL!
When I bought them, they were $265 or so.
Should come with Neverwinter Nights 2 game.

Different manufactures overclock their cards to differnt speeds so there is some difference in performance between different brands. For the most part though you won't see too much of a difference in speeds so it comes down to getting the best price and picking the brand you like.

This card looks like the Leadtek 8800GT ZL's evil twin.

#2- gassyjoe is right. The performance difference between these 8800GT's especially those using reference design and little or no overclocking would hardly matter. That being said, this card might have better OC potential due to the premium cooling.

Before buying though, consider the warranty, after-sales support, and a company's history with rebates--these are the main reasons why BFG and EVGA are more sought after among brands... afterwards look into other value-added features (HDMI port, a free game, etc.) Oh, and I almost forgot the most important thing to consider: the price.

I have heard stories that this fan is not speed adjustable and spins at 100% 24/7. On the other hand its not bad but still possible the msi cooling solution beats the pants off this one.

also comes with the witcher game.

truthfully though, they are all about the same (+-2% perrformance) especially if you are willing to diy overclock. ~725/1844/2100 core/shader/memory clock

what's the difference between PCI and PCI-e? google here I come!

#8, PCI-e = PCI Express. Pretty much all video cards now uses PCI-e. The previous generation video bus is AGP. PCI without the e or express is the bus used by sound cards, network cards, etc..

#5, the MSI may have a better fan but seems that one is only OC'd to 660MHZ while this Gigabyte is OC'd to 700MHz. 700MHz is quite good, most factory OC'd boards I see are 660 or 670 etc..

I currently have this running at 752 core 1825 shader and 1035 memory, rhis card idles at 35 to 40 degrees celcius. Great performer, this one of the better bulit card out there. Under full oad, it NEVER gets above 48 degrees celcius
