Inside the Crucial marketing department...
A guy wearing a pit stained buttondown shirt and pants about 1/2 an inch too short turns a fat, 2005-vintage memory stick over in his stubby fingers.
After 20 minutes or so, he screams "I've got it! We'll call it a Gizmo...A Gizmo Plus...No wait! Put an exclamation point after Gizmo! And quick, send that other warehouse full of 256MB sticks back to China and tell them to re-solder the guts into 8GB sticks that are 3/4" thick. We'll call them Gizmo Classic Mega!"

Search for the OCZ 8GB drive for $19. Go ahead, do it. You know you want to.

That $19 / 8GB looked like a good price but ecost's shipping (and don't they tack on an extra handling fee or is that their sister 'site?) ends up being around $9 making it end up about the same price as a couple others, hopefully as many others in the very near future.
Unfortunately all the fast writing 8GB capacity seem to still cost disproportionately more.
