Prices continue to drop on this stuff. I bought the 2GB Ballistix (non-led) version last time it was up for $19 after rebate.

One word of warning, Crucial has recently been in the news for having some bad batches of memory (high failure rate). One of the sticks I bought has started having errors and is being RMA'd to Crucial. Crucial's lifetime warranty is good in that respect but bare in mind that if you have send a piece back you have to pay the $7-8 to ship it back and that kinda erases your savings when you spend $16 on the memory to begin with.

Hopefully this is just a small hiccup for Crucial as I've been using their memory for years and never had any troubles with it before.

I'm on my third set of this stuff. Seems to run for a couple months then crap out. I have found I can run at a lower voltage than the 2.2V spec'd which has help keep one stick running.

It fails at 2.2V but runs at 2.0V. Seems like it might be a heat issue. I expect to RMA this one too at some point but but I'm getting tired of down time and shipping costs...

#2, what kind of motherboard chipset you have? nVidia or Intel? I don't know about this particular ram but from what I read, crucial seem to have compatibility problems between their ballistix PC2-8500 ram and intel p35 motherboards. My friend have this 6400 tracer ram with nforce 780i motherboard running for 6months+ and so far no problems.

Does not matter - appears to be sold out about the time Ben posted...

I have Crucial Ballistix memory in several computers without any problems.

how about running it at 1.8V, you guys think it will help?

My experience is that you get errors running below specified voltage. The Ballistix line has been problematic. I had two sticks crap out after six months. That was DDR, not DDR2, but it was a very common problem. Crucial replaced them, but what do you do for two weeks without RAM? Worth a Google search before you buy.

1.8V will not work. If you need 1.8V, try A-Data but slower timing.

Like usual....I'm sure NewEgg will raise the price when they get them back in stock.

My 4 gigs of Ballistix have been running perfectly for almost a year at 1.8v, 4-12. Memtest, daily use, no errors. So yes, it can work.

Sole doubt.

Back in stock at Newegg...bacon the higher price as I predicted. Do you notice the trend w/ NewEgg lately - low initial price (to peak interest) w/ limited supply that sells out quickly - then restock at a higher price.

65.99 - 40rebate w/ free ship = 25.99

Still a good price but I don't care for J*wEgg's pricing scheme.

#12, I also see it back in stock (and ordered a pair). They only charged me the original 59.99 per stick. Note that rebate *is* valid for pairs Smile ... so you can fill out your motheboard's 4 DDR2 slots ... only if 2x2GB kits were selling for $10/GB.

These will be my first Tracer modules, but I've been running a 4x1GB set of Ballistix at 4-12-2T. I've been running them at 2.0V with no problems. I tried to run at 1.8V like #10, but I remember my sticks not being 100% Prime stable, so I was happy with 2.0V
