#4 - slow. Though I'm pretty sure it has more to do with the sub-4k RPM than with it being PATA/66 - Any hard drive that can sustain 50-66 MB/sec isn't bad at all.
On the bright side (I guess), without a firewire port or a worthwhile GPU (granted, nothing in this weight class really has a worthwhile GPU), it would take quite a decent amount of effort to do the kind of work that might require fast storage.
However, if you're traveling (especially flying), I can't think of much that would beat a 3 lbs computer with a full size keyboard and a decently sized screen.
... Not to say I wouldn't like a 2.5" drive, easily replaceable battery, and a few more ports.

So, it's a niche product and won't be the best choice for everyone... Get over yourself!

I don't care what it is, I have to be part of the Apple elite and buy everything they sell regardless of price or quality concerns!

#6 - all that money just to shed 2 lbs? I don't know about most people, because obviously someone is buying this, but I'd rather deal with a 5lb pc and get those specs for half the price or less. It's not a hating Apple thing, because I do dislike them, but it's more of a price-to-benefit thing. Perhaps if I had money to throw away and wanted to be "cool..."

#9 - That's not just Apple - Lenovo, Sony, all have sub 4lbs laptops that cost a pretty penny just for the lighter weight. Even with Apple, you can save at least $500 off the purchase price and get a 5 lbs MacBook with more functionality.
Most people would rather save the money and buy a slightly heavier laptop - that's why the MacBook Air is a "niche" product - it just serves a different niche than high end graphics cards, superfast CPUs, or 12 LBS gaming laptops.

#10 - it may taper at the edges (which I actually don't like, makes the palm rest lip kind of sharp), but even at its thickest point, it's only 3/4 of an inch or so. You almost make it sound like it's a beast.

Sub 4k spin rate on the HD? Are you sure, #6? That's some old, slow shit.
Credit where credit is due. Nice zinger, #2.

#14 - I think it's an iPod HD - I've heard those spin at about 3800 RPM? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I checked the specs. It's an old school 4200 RPM HD. Still pretty slow these days though.
