Just wanted to point out that $100 rebate is good for purchases 9/1 to 9/30, so you are at the end of the rebate period and I've heard there are rebates that run out of allocated money and do not honor any additional rebates once they are empty. I can't confirm this to be true or false with any of the rebates out there.

One of the threads on these Hanns monitors suggested they were only 6-bits per color channel. Can someone confirm or deny this?

Yes, someone can confirm this.
Here's the summary of my past mini-review:
It's a deal for $100 AR but not competitive with most 19" displays and I wouldn't want it for my main monitor.
Rest of the mini-review-

#9, I think that could be interpreted to mean that it supports input of 16.2 millions colors, not that it can display that many. For that matter, it can only display 1,310,720 at once. That mini-review suggests it is 6-bit.

Bought one of these during the last offer. I'm far from an expert on monitors, but from what I can see it displays really nicely, and I see no sign at all of any bad pixels. It's a big "step up" from the 15" LCD I was using that came with this desktop pc.
Now I'm just hoping that the $100 rebate and the $20 rebate get honored. Thanks, #4, for the encouraging words about the rebates.

Apparently, from what I've been reading, when you see "16.2 million colors" it means 6-bit, and when you see "16.8 million colors" it means 8-bit. I'm not sure why the 6-bit monitors claim "16.2 million colors", since they shouldn't be able to display that many (6-bit x 6-bit x 6-bit = 64 x 64 x 64 = 262,144 colors), but it seems to be a common claim.

Majority of LCDs are 6bit these days, especially those with faster reponse time.
