honestly who needs LEDs running up and down their ram? It'd be cool for about 20 seconds then it'd get lame... maybe in a lan box though...

agree. i got this ram because it was cheap. i hope it just runs reliably. i can't even see the LEDs since my case is not transparent.

i actually never knew there were LEDs on it until I read other people talking about them on various forums.

D's aside, This is great ram.... Same D9 chips as regular Ballistix. OC's like crazy and low 4.12 timings. Easily run @ 1066 (266 x 4) @ stock voltage (2.2v). Some older Intel chipsets will not play nicely with this ram due to the high stock voltage. Make sure your board has manual ram voltage settings that allow you to add juice. there's also two different versions of these, depending on how old the stock is. You may get the older ones where the HS's don't make full contact on the chips. If this is the case, RMA them and Crucial will send you the updated models.

Thanks #3 good to know. It seems Crucial (and more than often OCZ) and RMA's go hand in hand at the moment, they used to be a great company. Very sad they ended up like this.

Make sure the motherboard supports 2.2V. Some of the new ones default to 1.8V memory and don't support 2.2V at all.

#5, It would have been easier to just copy an paste my post with regards to the stock voltage. However, Some boards will run this fine @ 1.9v, timings will run @ 5+15 though.

#4, It's great Ram.... The HS's don't really cause an issue with heat, even @ 1066. But it depends on case airflow as well. I just figured consumers would like to know. In case you do get the older batch (chances are you won't), they will RMA it no questions asked. As you can tell I'm still a huge Micron "D9" chipfan

how can you tell when you get the older, non contacting heatsink. the thermal pads on my ballistix were not allowing the heatsinks to make good contact, should I rma? my ram/mobo (mobo should be able to though) was incapable of pushing 1066 at any voltage.

Do these work at 1.8V?

#6, FWIW, I have a brand-new AMD motherboard where the voltage only goes up to 2.1V.
