just got a brand new in shrink-wrapped box of WRT54GS for $25 from craigslist... i see lots of people are getting rid of G routers (of all brands) on craiglist... so if you want something cheaper... check craigslist.

the only router i ever recommend to people who want a stable, feature packed routher. flash with dd-wrt, configure, and never have to worry about it again.

This is not the WRT54GL or WRT54g ver. 8.1, therefore it CANNOT be flashed via DDWRT. I just returned this exact router to New Egg because it is a WRT54G ver. 8.2 . You can install a limited build of DDWRT on a WRT54G ver. 8.1 (e not all features are available such as KAID), but not this router. It is useless compared to my WRT54G ver. 4.
Also, if you are running DDWRT, do yourself a favor and use Tomato firmware. DDWRT is the buggiest piece of software I have ever used. Tomato on the other hand just works.

I have a brand new wireless G router that I've been trying to give away and nobody will take it.

As I've said before; a few years ago when anybody ask about routers the answer was automatic, buy a Linksys. Then Cisco bought out Linksys and it's been a long slow slide down hill ever since. The quality just continues to go down, down, down.

Yeah, the newer ones are pretty useless. Buy a GL or don't buy at all.

why buy a G when you can buy a N router for the same price ?
This is like buying a B router when the G is there for the same price.

Get the N router. They are usually backward compatible to G and B.
