I bought a lower-end Skullcandy model, and the bass was boomy & muddy, the hight so strident that they severely hurt the ears even at low volume--actually, the bass was a bit painful as well. And this is the BEST sound I could shape with the equalizer! Needless to say, they were returned to CC next day.
This model is likely to be better, but still I'd be reluctant to buy another from Skullcandy that I can't return easily... I just received a V-moda pair free from Pepsi Stuff, and although they are mediocre, the sound is way superior to the Skullcandy. Drink that Pepsi, get 150 points, and get the buds free! Hint: buy the 6-pack bottles to mount up points fast.

I've got the 11mm driver version of these. Not bad. Nice audio detail and the bass isn't too overblown/muddy.
The one-deal -at-a-time site http://www.whiskeymilitia.com/ has been offering the 11mm driver version on and off for the past few weeks for about $32 plus $5 USPS shipping.
