The PITA factor. By a tree once, it's already lit, no problems.

Other choice: Get a tree every year. Worry about house burning down. Clean up of dead pine needles. Disposal of dead tree.

I bought a couple of these trees from Wal-Mart BM over the weekend. I needed a giant one for a room with a 16 foot-high ceiling in my Kentucky farm house (I needed a smaller one for my outhouse.) These trees are truly a good value (if you still celebrate Christmas). You'll need good values in this erroroneous blame-the-free-market, post-election Obamacrash.

These trees will be a much better deal starting on December 26. If you just want to get a new tree, then wait the day after Christmas when all Christmas trees, ornaments, wrapping paper, etc. is 50% off.

I'd take an educated guess that these trees are so inexpensive and Wal-Mart so shrewd about inventory that there won't be many left over.

I paid $30 for a 6 1/2 foot pre-lit ... and it actually looks good. While I am not el-cheap-o about everything I buy (I don't have to be), that's not a bad deal even for after Christmas.

We all know about the post-Christmas sales.

man, after you try prelit you won't go back to live or non lit trees. it's a big enough pain as is.

Once you go with a decent pre-lit, you'll never go back. The biggest arguements and stress in my family always occured when setting the tree up and then trying to put the lights on. With a pre-lit, you simply set it up, fluff it a little, and plug it in. 20 minutes instead of 3 hours. Well worth it IMHO.
