Walmart has the 700C GMC Denali Men's Road Bike for $158 + shipping. Shipping is about $20; free site-to-store pickup at limited locations. Versatile bike features a lightweight and strong aluminum frame, 21-speed Shimano drive train, racing style alloy wheels, and alloy side-pull caliper brakes. [Compare]

Good starter road bike for what you pay. Not competition worthy by any means. Heavier than a competition frame. You could pay to have your local bike store assemble properly for you. Free if you have site to store and have the Walmart do it, but it would need tweaking if Walmart does it.

These look cool but get really shitty gas mileage.

I think for about $150 - $200 you could pick up something much better on craig's list. At 30lbs, it's pretty heavy for a road bike... my mountain bike is lighter, and it's not a high end model.
Shimano drive train doesn't equal good Shamano parts... They make very good and some bad stuff. A few reviews mention how poor the brakes are and how maybe you should swap them out... which means you are already spending more money than the purchase price.
If you buy your bike at a bike store, they normally include free lifetime tune-ups. Worth a few bucks right there. Often, if you buy a used bike, there's a sticker on the bike from the shop and that gets you the free tune-ups.
