    T-Mobile is a better deal.

Buy 1000 minutes for $100 and they don't expire for a year; plus they'll roll over into the next year if you buy a $10 card the day before they expire.

If you don't use very many minutes, T-Mobile is the way to go.

This phone is free at easyrebates and bacon. It can also easily be unlocked to use with T-Mobile.

Definitely avoid AT&T. Not only is their prepaid plan overpriced, but they have one of the lowest ratings for customer service in the industry. Just use up any minutes that come with this phone and flee quickly to T-Mobile or another GSM provider.

#1 T-Mobile sucks, at least in my area. Crappy coverage.

If you buy this phone with a $100 card, the total comes to $80 + tax. That will get you a full year of service if you only use the phone occasionally (choose 25 cents/min, or 10 cents/min with $1 for each day you make a call). Also, AT&T gives you a $5 bonus when you add a $100 card, and another $10 free for loading minutes within 7 days of purchase. That's $115 worth of minutes and a phone for $80 plus tax.

If you buy this phone through a web site named E/x/t/r/a/R/e/b/a/t/e/s, you will get an additional $25 back after a few months. That brings the package into truly bargain territory.

That's the downside of T-Mobile: a smaller coverage area. But if I lived in a spot where I couldn't use them, I'd go to any other provider rather than AT&T. You can get better rates with either Virgin Mobile or even Tracfone (if you make use of the discount codes out there). And keep in mind that if you're on the $1-per-day-of-usage plan, AT&T will bill you if you get an incoming call, which makes it harder to control your costs.
