Call and check with Crucial to make sure this memory is compatible with the motherboard you are using prior to purchasing. Crucial's website has inaccurate information so your best bet is to call them directly.

The Ballistix memory has some compatibility issues so check first.

Works flawlessly with ASUS motherboards.I been building computers for 10 years and never had a problem with any Crucial memory.

It's not a brand problem, it's a chipset problem. Crucial is claiming that the Ballistix line of memory is incompatible with P-35 chipset motherboards even though they are listed as compatible on their website.

Thanks, Ben. I'm waiting for Ballistix Tracer deal again.

Anyone running this on a Dell Inspiron? My stock memory is 1.8v and this is 2.2v. I keep waiting for a deal on 1.8v RAM but I haven't seen one yet.

Geez, get yourself a less crappy non P-35 based mobo already. We're tired of hearing about your poor life choices, seriously.

Is it ALL P-35 chipset motherboards and until Crucial gets their act together and fixes it or updates their website I am going to continue to inform people as to a potential issue they would have if they purchase this memory.

I've got two pair of Ballistix Tracers in my Q6600/abit IP35 PRO running fine @ 3.222 GHz/FSB 1433, 1.8V.

I'm in for a pair for my Q6600 HTPC.

Again, #1,3,7 is FOS. There's nothing wrong with this ram on the P35 chipset. It's your garbage cheaply made bios. You still havn't specified which P35 board you had this issue with? Ashamed? or just know your wrong, which would again be Ashamed. DO NOT listen to gassyjoe, He doesn't provide info on which board, becuase he will be proved wrong. The ballistix ram is nothing but great, Unless you try using it on cheap $40 boards. It's not meant for budget builds and can run far beyond specs.

I can confirm #8's post: Same set-up on Abit IP35 pro plus a slew of other Abit, Asus and gigabyte boards.

For the last time, either tell us what your board is or STFU!

#5 Mine are running fine too at 1.8v, 4-12, not overclocked though. 4 gigs of this stuff, solid for about a year. I don't know with an inspiron though, mine is an "it".

#5 GSkill makes a 1.8 V kit of ram. you can find it easily on newegg, and they usually go on sale frequently.

i'd make sure your dell can use it though, or if it's listed compatible on the dell/gskill websites

Thanks #11. I'll look for the GSkill. I'll be ok with 2GB for a while anyway.

#5, this RAM is SPD 1.8v @ 5-15. Also, I have used 4 GB of this RAM (purchased about 1 yr ago) in a MSI Platinum (P35) w/o issue.

I have an Asus P5K Motherboard not that anybody asked before. The RAM worked fine until it started locking up and rebooting. Several RMA's later and numerous conversations with Crucial Tech support and I was informed by the Crucial rep that the reason my ram was dying was because the Ballistix memory IS NOT COMPATIBLE with the P-35 chipset even though their website states that it is. The memory will work fine and pass all memtests until one day it will die on you.

I don't give a crap if you believe me or not. My purpose is not to spread false rumors but to pass on information that could be useful to people prior to buying this memory.

I'll say it again, if you want to buy this memory then just spend 2 minutes and call Crucial first to make sure you won't get screwed.

@gassyjoe perhaps your board is busted? other people seem to report that their ram works ok.

@#5 from what I have heard this stuff works fine in dell's. I just installed 2gb into my buddy's box (5000+x2), it ran fine with the preinstalled 2gb hynix 533mhz ram. Unlike ocz ram ballistix has multiple spd settings that allow it to run at 1.8/1.9v albeit probably at lower speeds/looser timings.

My board works fine with Corsair memory so I don't think it's the board. Not to mention I am getting my information straight from the Crucial tech reps. My board worked fine with Crucial RAM for about a month and then started having issues.

Well, I'm afraid to tell you that @ 2.2v specs it's hard to cook this ram when most boards default @ 1.9v. Furthermore, I've built at least a dozen rigs with the P5K, P5K-E and P5K deluxe with Crucial ballistix. I have 1yr warranties on these builds and have not had to replace a set yet, some builds are past the 1yr mark. What i'm telling you is, The P35 has nothing to do with your ram issue. The PSU, Cooling, Static by handling, OC'ing, bios set wrong or a slew of other things caused this issue. These are Micron "D9" chips, arguably the best chips ever manufactured (Only downfall was for Dell, Gateway, etc. users due to high voltage @ 2.2v , and didn't like to play well with the P965 Express chipset until bios updates were released). Sure there are bad batches of every ram, regardless of manufacturer. But for the last time it's has nothing to do with the P35 northbridge chipset (Unless it's user error @ bios settings). In fact there's tons of website reviews using this ram on P35 boards that state great performance and stability (If they were to fail, It surely would happen under a torture test, which they passed!). Anyone who uses ram often in builds knows that these are the best money could buy over the past 2 years. The newer batches do not seem to provide the OC'ing like the earlier batches, but that does not effect chipset compatibility at all.

#14: Look back at all your ballistix posts and you'll see where i asked you to provide the model P35 board. It's obvious you don't read things through, so you don't take your time, hence mistakes happen.

Crucial reps: 99% of CS you speak with know less than you do. Their easiest approach is to give you an RMA. Hit the Crucial forums, see much of the BS your talking about? No, and there are quite a few who own p35 chipset boards.

As I stated, There are a ton of reasons why your ram failed, the P35 chipset on a P5K is not one of them.

I just ordered 2 of Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 800 for the Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H AMD 780G AMD Phenom Socket AM2+ 5200 MHz PC2-8500 (DDR2-1066) mATX Motherboard. Please anybody has built with GA-MA78GM-S2H?
I would have your help for memory setup!!

Thank you!

I know there are a ton of reviews with a P35 motherboard and this memory, that was part of the reason I chose both of them.

I use to swear by Crucial memory in all my builds but I will not trust them again.

I have been building my own systems for years so my issues have nothing to do with "user error". My board is running just fine with overclocked Corsair RAM so I don't think it has anything to do with the rest of my system.

I will simple pass on what I've been told by the Crucial reps, "The Ballistix memory is no compatible with P-35 chipsets". If you're having good luck with it then more power to you.

@Gaasyjoe: Just so you're aware, Other high end ram manufacturers also use the exact same chips on the ballistix (Micron D9), Such as OCZ, Corsair and Patriot. I'm sure there's more, but these I can confirm by looking under the heatsinks. The Ballistix DDR3 is also off to a great start with good performance and stability ratings everywhere on the web.

#18, You can set them @ 2.2v 4-12 timings @ 800Mhz or Loosen the timimgs @ 2.2v 15 and run them at 1066. If you don't pass a stability test then up the DDR2 voltage in small increments until it's stable (Shouldn't have to go any higher than 2.35v).
