#1 - I have Hitachi HDD in my Thinkpad. I consider it as a good sign regarding quality. Don't know about their desktop drives though.

OK deal I guess... Picked up a Seagate 500GB 16MB Cache 3Gb/s 7200RPM SATA at Fry's yesterday on sale for $75 and that has a 5-year warranty.
