We bought bikes from Wal-mart. Schwinn and Mongoose brands...I don't see the need for a several hundred dollar carbon-fiber-titanium frame for riding around the neighborhood.

#3, those are fair values in the low-end brands, even if they're not up to the quality standards they were years ago. I mean low end compared to what a bike shop normally carries, this Roadmaster deserves it's own especially low end category since it's probably not economically sound to upgrade or replace any major parts later.
However, the typical bike snob would complain about a few areas. It's not that everyone needs these factors on their bike but some will want them and be willing to pay more.
- Lighter weight
- Smoother Shifting
- More gears
- More standardized parts, easier to find compatible replacements if/when something breaks
Of course it also depends on which grade of Schwinn or Mongoose, their upper end is not so different than some other brands low-middle tiered bikes.
This Roadmaster on the other hand is best seen as a cheap throwaway bike that may do fine if kept adjusted, kept on pavement or very light trails, but for shorter total lifespan. It is a great value, the tires alone for my bike cost more than this, and it will likely last longer compared to a more expensive bike than the ratio of it's lcost to a more expensive bike, but be a little less friendly to ride.
Maybe it's a fair choice to take out in the winter snow, salty slush, or rain if you just want the exercise.

Speaking of stalking, you seem to watch my postings very carefully. You must have a very uneventful life.

Oh, and congrats on joining the illustrious "pwned into oblivion" club. You are now officially a Ben's Bargains troll.

As for me crying...you can't be serious. You sent me some of the most emo messages I've ever seen. Planning a "hiatus" from a website? Seriously, take a good long look in the mirror (figuratively speaking of course, since you don't want to risk getting cut by the glass shards) and consider what you're saying.

I'm surprised there's no comments about taking the seat off the bike before riding...yet.
