When I watch fast action footage on a 1080P screen it's very jittery.
Anyone else experience this?
Slow and still images are awesome, but any fast movement and it's painful to watch.

Depends not only on the screen having 1080P but also whatever source the signal is coming from. If you have it hooked up to standard cable, you might notice that. Also, not all DVD quality is the same, it depends on things like the quality of the original camera shooting the footage, old movies that were converted to DVD not being done well, etc. It's probably just your cable though. It's no worse than it ever was, your TV is just better and more defined so it doesn't blur the image like you're used to. Most cable companies offer HD channel packages for only like $10 a month in addition to their standard rates.

i have seen some tv sets, the sony xbr in particular, do this thing where it plays catchup- the frames get out of synch with the audio, the video starts to lag, and then it speeds up the video to catch up with the audio- it was quite obnoxious IMO

I know what you mean. I believe it is called the "Nuisance effect"

Don't buy an expensive TV until you've had the chance to watch an action movie on it. The blurring is worse on LCDs than other technology, but LCD seems to be the dominant tech they are feeding us.

Samsung 650 series is simply amazing. Put it next to any other panel, black is much blacker, colors more vibrant. Low model Sonys are crap compared to low model Samsungs and I would expect it across the board.

Maybe you should have spent some of that money on your education.

Sony TVs are over priced, with less features, and the quality is questionable. I bought a KDL46V3000 46" Bravia LCD TV Dec 2007, the TV died a little over 3 months after. Sony gave me an option of swapping it with a refurb unit (after 2 months into the repair and with complaints). I refused and it went into the shop twice and took 3 months to repair. Asked if this quality is acceptable, the customer relations rep said "things happen". In this case, if you google it this problem has happend more than once. Sony just did not recall the units or have any process in place to effectively deal with this.

missing link, no xbr 4 in stock in BB. XBR5 runs more than $3200. $2000 on xbr 4 is an extrodinary deal.
