How is this "Atom" CPU compared to, say, C2D with the same speed?

it was sale for $500 w/ 6 cell... not a better deal for 3 cell for $480.

Been using this for a few days now... Great laptop for non-intensive computer usage... It is fairly speedy when your just surfing/word processing etc. The 3-cell battery is the worst part about it.

but they're set up for low power consumption, rather than speed.

This deal not as good as the eee pc 10 inch for 500. Too lazy to look up the difference but eee have 6 cell battery to start with.

How is this for a non-computer using mother-in-law as an email/web-surfing device?

Very sold #9 - but the biggest asset of the wind is it's portability... If the non-computer using person doesn't plan on bringing the netbook everywhere, probably better off with a normal 15" laptop. The screen fits webpages perfectly horizontally, but there's a bit of extra scrolling vertically since the resolution runs at 1024x600 instead of the standard 1024x768.

why do we have to pay a premium for portability?
I saw a laptop at fry's turion x2 with a bigger hd, more mem, bigger screen, but no bluetooth for $399.
Whats up with that?
granted it probably includes lots of crapware preinstalled.

I have watch that can display 3 million cities over world at once and you can dance with its ear busty loud music from from the side of watch. And, it connects to internet and run voice commands while project the screen wherever you point with your finger.
oh. btw, it needs 250lbs battery.

Very good laptop for out field business use. Can use it for more than 7hrs with a 6 cells. Also recommanded for kids since its light and fully equipped with card reader and web cam
Only 2plbs for a 3 cells and a little bit less than 3plbs on a 6 cells model. 6 cells are sold around $499.
Too bad sold out already.
