Nice phone but if I had the AT&T service I would get the iPhone.

Does anyone know how to get a PDA type phone (e HTC, moto Q 9,blackjack) discounted without having to get a data package?

Probably not #2, gotta pay full price (or damn near close to it) if you don't want to dish out an additional 40+ a month for a data plan. That's how they subsidize these cell phone costs to begin with.

Danger: Requires activation with AT&T. Think long and hard before you sign a contract with that outfit. Personally, I wouldn't do it no matter what phone I got free.

Yes, think long and hard. You might then imagine what's in my pants.

    re: #6

iPhones have their limitations. No removable battery, no removable storage, no tethering out of box, limited third party software, etc...

(although more expensive) there are Pocket PC phones that you can cook to do everything an Iphone can do plus have the added features of the pocket pc (and you can use alternative data packages that could be cheaper).
