#1, Tivo series 3 and Tivo HD both have eSata and require this type of drive for expansion. Vanilla eSata drives will not work with a Tivo unless you mod it first.

Just picked up one of these from Amazon for $150 for a TivoHD. (Needed a 2nd reboot to recover from a hang after initial reboot, but installation was otherwise pretty straight forward.)
This is a good price if you want to add storage to a TivoHD w/o modding it.
