Looks like a pretty good deal. NewEgg reviews look good. Anyone have a review about this GPS?

this doesn't have text to speech. that's important to me because i rely on my gps more than your typical driver. i'm not good with directions. so i want to stare at the screen as little as possible and it helps to say "turn on main st" when i'm near a complicated intersection. otherwise, there could be multiple "left" turns in .1 mile and i'd have to look at the screen to see which street. you may not have the same needs as me.

the 260w is just like the 250w but that has TTS. waiting for 260w to hit a sale price of $200 seems reasonable to me. if i had to get a non-TTS gps - why even spend $180? I'd rather go for a $100 TOMTOM. If I'm not getting my top choice, than a refurbished GPS (that has 1 year warranty) is hardly a risk. Refurbs are fine with me but of course i too prefer "new".

let me clarify my view on refurbs

    1. it has a year warranty. if something performs well for a whole year, i'm comfortable to think that it'll last as long as i take care of it. this has held for every device i've ever owned.

    2. if it breaks within the warranty - then hey - warranty's got my back. they'll fix it just as a new gps was fixed. what i get back in the mail will hardly matter whether it was refurbed or not. cause now it is.

THIS UNIT DOES NOT HAVE UPDATE FEATURES ON IT WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET. THE MAPS ARE 7 YEARS BEHIND. IT STILL WORKS WELL BUT GOOD LUCK FINDING NEW ADDRESSES ON IT.
