I think they are liquidating these DVD camcorder at no profit or so. I noticed that similar SD/SDHC camcorder from same manufacturer (in this case Panasonic) with similar specs (g 2.7" LCD, similar pixel CCD, similar optical zoom etc.) sell for $50~$60 more than the DVD camcorder. I think they both record in MPEG-2 format. From hardware cost standpoint, there is no reason why one with DVD transport mechanism is cheaper than one without it and just the SD/SDHC card interface, even though the latter is slightly smaller.
