Text to speech isn't a mandatory feature for everybody, which is why the Nuvi 200 refurb on sale a week ago was a great deal for me. Circuit City still has it for $120, FWIW.

Text-to-speech means that the device will say the street name along with the directions. Rather than than the device's just showing you a text message on the map "turn left onto Spring Street" and saying "turn left in 1.2 miles," it will say the street name so you can look for the sign instead of at the GPS. Not a big deal to me, and not worth the extra $50-75 (typically) for the feature, but for some it is.

Agreed...TTS is nice (city driving especially) but not mandatory. NUVI's rock...
