I would've thought if you were interested in it, that'd be because you knew. It's a USB network adapter for 802.11g/b (used by the client PCs). It has a dish instead of the typical rubber ducky or strip antenna so that it can be directionally aimed at a signal for better concentration and more noise rejection (from other background signals).
That's the theory of how dishes work, in practice a cheap little one doesn't make much difference unless the airwaves were very noisey and these days those looking for longer range would usually be better off moving to 802.11n but that might mean replacing more than one piece of networking gear while some already have 802.11g gear.
