It's HD, mixed with that DNA thing we've all heard about. So the price must be worth it!

Sony ditched Samsung (S-LCD corporation joint venture of Sony and Samsung) for Sharp to get cheaper LCD panels . But whatever the video and audio processing circuits of Sony are unmatched.

got mine last year for around $1400-1500.....
why is the price up again for these?
it's worth it for around $1500, but not for 2G
the Aquos has defects in their 46 and 52 inch and Samsung's aren't quite at he quality of Sony yet.
Don't even mention Vizio, Westinghouse, etc.
However, Panny is pretty good.

indeed sony is overpriced. but then, u r paying for the badge and the quality.
hyundai is cheap and well equipped, who knows how long it will last (great initial value - sammy & lg)
toyota is more expensive even without the options in the hyundai, but u know it's build to last at least 10 yrs (sony & pioneer)
#5 where did you purchase your 46XBR4 for 1.5k?

I price-matched it at Sears as J&R had it on sale for about $1500-1600. Sears price-matched it and gave the difference. Whole deal cost me around $1500. Good deal if you can catch them at the right time. Good luck. Looking at a Panny-plasma for my 2nd TV in the upstairs bedroom right now.
For idiots that think Vizio/Sceptre/Olivia/Westinghouse is in the same class as Sony, dream on. While it may be true that Sony overcharges for their product, like someone mentioned above, you're also buying their quality. There is no comparison when those 2nd tier tv is placed next to Sony/Sharp/Samsung.
You get what you pay for!

Fuck LCD and Plasma.
I saw a preview of the laser sets and my jaw dropped, beautiful and simply amazing quality.

If you have ever compared TVs side by side, then the Sony, though more expensive always wins for image quality, crispness without jagged lines, viewing angle, contrast ratio, etc. Usually you can spot the sony from accross the electronics section because of the very apparent stebaconp in image quality.

I got a 52" XBR4 for $2300 from Best Buy in February or March. $2K for this is waaay too much.
That being said, I did all the research and Sony does have the best quality for the buck. Consumer Reports agrees as it ranked the 46" XBR4 as the best flat panel on the market.

#17, I meant to say $2700.
And I was talking about the 52" XBR4. It was $4000, they had it $1000 off since it was the end of the XBR4's "life cycle" and there was a 10% off coupon. $3000 - $300 (10%) = $2700.
I've also seen the 52" recently on sears.com for $2500.
