same price at amazon, perhaps no tax at amazon for some folks. No usb, no hdmi.

i recommend getting the higher model with usb port. it works great with thumb drives and fat32 ext hd. it gets tiring burning stuff to cd/dvd. its about 70bux at circuit city.

Hold out for the USB. HDMI isn't such a big deal on a regular DVD player, but the USB contributes a convenience for DivX that is unparalleled. You can use jump drives, flash media with card readers, or FAT32 formatted portable hard drives.

Two questions...

1. Which thumb drives work best. I have a San Disk and it seems like it hangs a lot (total restart).

2. How do you know which avi formats will work IF you burn dvds?

this plays Xvid perfectly. have one already.

I picked one up from Target about a month ago (it's currently $39.99 there!) and love it!

after buying a philips' divx player last year, i found i only used it twice a year, since i hate to burn so many discs~ if it can directly interface with an external hard drive, i probably give it a try.
