So if I walk (around school for example) more than I run, are these shoes better? Not sure of the rule here...

I've found that running shoes are rather poor for walking great distances. The heel does not have enough support on my current running shoes, and I developed blisters there when I went to a convention that required walking all day long.
If you are just walking around school, it probably doesn't matter a lot. Buy whatever you think looks nice.

#1, if you insist on both walking and running in the same pair of shoes, cross-trainers may be an acceptible compromise if they otherwise fit your feet including +- pronation.
