Considering these were previously broken phones, I'd say your luck isn't too good

I have this. It's pretty good and it came completely intact. Ask me about it in a year.

The problem with most of Vtech cordless phone is they scan for the channel and won't lock so render the phone useless. Usually it does this during the 2nd year.

Panasonic is a better brand to get but their volume is low. And less features than Vtech phones.

I have a pair of Uniden's. After 3 years of use I had to replace the batteries in each of the two handsets for $7 each, $20 total with shipping. I like them. They have a handset-speakerphone, headset attachment, 50-number memory, caller ID, etc. I got them free when I signed up for SunRocket which is now Teleblend. Google the appropriate keywords if you want to know what model phone they gave away -- they're at home and I'm at work now. YMMV.

The handset speakerphones are pretty cool. It says "Wireless Network Friendly" but I thought that 802.11n operates on 5.8GHz? 802.11b/g are 2.4GHz, so maybe that's what they really mean?
